Working to impact and improve the community

On the 10th of September 2016, Open Heavens Edinburgh (OHE) kick started its community initiative titled 'The Harmony Project'. The ethos of the project is to support and promote strong communities through various volunteering activities. The inaugural event, which is the first of many to come, was tagged 'Keep Wester Hailes tidy'. This involved volunteer members of the church congregation (some of which some live locally) working in teams to pick up litter across various areas of Wester Hailes covering Harvesters Way, Clovenstone Road, Murrayburn Park and the footpath. At the end of the exercise, a total of 20 waste bags were filled and collected for disposal by the local council. Going forward, as part of The Harmony Project, a series of other volunteering activities will be undertaken by OHE to support individuals and groups and to help build a stronger Wester Hailes community.

You are a vessel of honour

‘Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.’
2 Timothy 2:21 NKJV

Vessels of gold are sacred and separated. Not just for any kind of use (2 Corinthians 4:7). Most of us don't know what we are in Christ and how He sees us. The bible says there are vessels of different materials, values and use among members of the Church. His plan and purpose for your life is to make you and take you to that expected glorious place for His glory.

To get there you have a part to play. Identify the category of vessel you are. Live holy, aspire to let go and let Him.

Jeremiah 18:4 says “And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.”

The Lord bless you as you let Him.
