Let the children come unto me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 19:14.
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverb 22:6
It is our desire to bring children to Jesus. We are committed to doing all that we can to create and maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere in which to teach our children God’s love and care for them. Our goal is to model Christ-likeness to our children because we recognize that we are a reflection of God’s love to those in our care.
“Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.” Psalm 150:1-5
Worship is an essential part of our lives as Christians and we were created for this purpose. As a group of believers, one way we love to worship God is through music. The Open Heavens Edinburgh choir is made up of people brought together by a common purpose: to lift up the name of Jesus, to lead God’s people in worship, to communicate salvation to the lost and encouragement to believers. The Open Heavens Edinburgh choir is filled with vibrant dedicated members who are passionate about praising and worshipping God with their voices and with instruments.
We meet to rehearse on Saturdays and have a good time fellowshipping with one another. We are a growing team so please feel free to come along and join us! We would love to have you as a part of our family.
The OHE drama team not only acts according to the word of God, we also put the word (Jesus) into our acting. Our presentations are always inspired by God – following deep study of the Bible and the leading of the Holy Spirit and we strive to interpret and apply these revelations to our day to day activities. Are you gifted in acting and/or script writing? Contact us via the below email address and help spread the good news through drama. We have heard and read the gospel many times, let’s act it!
The main role of the Holy Police Ministry is to ensure the safety and protection of the property, assets and members (and also visitors) of the church. The ministry also ensures proper control of traffic in and out of the car park of the church and on the roads in front and beside the church premises - due to limited availability of car parking spaces. Other responsibilities include crowd control and surveillance during church services and events; assisting church members and visitors needing directions or information about parking around or on the church premises; preventing incidents before they happen around and on the church premises. In everything we do, we acknowledge that God Almighty is the best protection anyone can ever have as the Psalmist says in the book of Psalms 91:1-16.
The Follow up team is the arm of the church dedicated to ensuring that all visitors to the church feel welcomed, are cared for and are accepted. We warmly welcome and acknowledge each newcomer after service and share with them an overview of the Church. We are responsible for supporting new converts through their growth process in the faith by monitoring/mentoring them as they grow in their new found faith and relationship with God. We also contact church members who are absent from the Sunday worship service to enquire about their welfare.
Due to the expansive nature of our activities, we are ever in need of committed believers with a genuine heart for people (Romans 12:9) who have a desire to serve the Lord with a cheerful attitude (whether on the phone or in person) and willingness to let the Lord work through them to edify others.
The Evangelism team is passionate about making disciples of all nations. Our ministry is all about reaching out to those who are hurting and insecure and meeting their spiritual needs (by sharing the good news and teaching them the ways of the Lord) and physical needs (providing foods, shelter, household items). Our outreach activities include door to door evangelism, concerts, barbecues, counseling etc. The great commission for every believer is to go out and make disciples of all nations so please contact us if you are interested in joining our team.

Pastoral Care/Community Service
The Bible teaches us about caring for widows, the elderly and our brothers and sisters in general. It is the responsibility of all of God’s children to care for those who are in need. The Pastoral care team is focused on fulfilling this requirement by giving support to those who are in need, whether it is financial support, visiting people in their homes to give them an encouraging word or by counseling or mentoring them.
The Pastoral care team takes the command that we should be our brothers’ keeper seriously and we invite you to come and help us share God’s love.
In the teaching team, we believe in the efficacy of the word of God to transform lives for the better and to provide desired spiritual growth. We are committed to discipling our students to be “Christ-like” as we explore the word of God in our Sunday school classes, House Fellowships and other training programmes. In order to show ourselves as workmen that need not be ashamed, teachers express their devotion to this cause through personal study of God’s word, attendance and participation in preparatory classes and interaction with students and intercessory prayers for students.
The ushering team is committed to serving God and the church with honour, humility and integrity. They are responsible for welcoming everyone who comes through the doors during any of our meetings in a warm and loving way so they feel at home in our church. They are always ready to assist the pastors, leaders and other church members with any questions or requests they might have with the aim of bringing order to the house and ensuring the smooth running of church meetings.
Joshua Generation (fondly referred to as JG) consists of the youths & singles in the church. With a name inspired by the accomplishments of the children of Israel under the leadership of Joshua, the team was created to 1) enhance the development of a well-rounded youth (i.e. spiritually, professionally, maritally); 2) provide a platform for building godly relationships through interactions and fellowship; 3) establish a support network through advise/counselling on pertinent issues; 4) develop a team of ambassadors for Christ in this worldly generation.
All these aims and objectives are achieved through a series of events and activities such as empowerment meetings, interactive discussions, workshops/seminars and social gatherings which are either self-organised or attended via invitation.
Like every organisation, a core team (referred to as ExCos) is required to ensure effective management of the team and we are always looking for individuals with great administrative/organisational or people skills. It should be noted that though the team is often, mostly made up of students, it is by no means restrictive to this category. If you are young, single, and/or young at heart, you are most welcome!!
We are also known as The Men Of Valour Edinburgh (MOVE) – the men’s fellowship of OHE. Membership is opened to all qualified male members of the church. Our aim is to provide a forum where all the men (in the church and society) can build relationships; grow spiritually; and enrich each other’s family and career lives though regular meetings, seminars and retreats.
We also provide avenues for development projects to be carried out in the church (and community) and serve as a vehicle for supporting the integrating of the church into the community. We meet regularly every 2nd Sunday of the month.
