Job Purpose:

  • Responsible for preaching, teaching a congregation, performing Pastoral duties and organizing community outreach programmes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Well versed in Christian religious scriptures.
  • Able to demonstrate an empathy with the Christian religion.
  • Singing hymns, saying prayers, conducting weekly services, teaching & preaching.
  • Assist in Perform marriage and engagement ceremonies, funerals and other religious ceremonies in accordance with the Christian Faith
  • Conduct religious programs in accordance with Pentecostal Traditions and RCCG doctrines.
  • Lead the congregation to prayers.
  • Lead a team of volunteers.
  • Interpret doctrine, articles of faith of our religion/organization.
  • Instruct people who seek conversion to Christianity.
  • Provide spiritual and moral guidance and assistance to adults.
  • Co-ordinate programs in promotion of Christian way of life; encourage adults to learn biblical principles of Christianity.
  • Home visitation.
  • To work collaboratively with all internal teams, departments, donors and external agencies.
  • Any other job as directed by OHE Board of Trustees.
  • The minister will be responsible for locking and unlocking the Church premises.
  • Working Hours: 35 working hours per week

Salary: £24,000

Personnel Specification:

The post holder will need to display the following:

KNOWLEDGE

    • Knowledge and understanding of the Pentecostal Christian Faith and also RCCG
    • In agreement with the church’s constitution as described in the Church Profile• Knowledge of other churches and Christian organisations, especially in the Scottish Borders area.
    • Experience of working with African and Afro-Caribbean communities
    • Ability to translate / interpret the Bible in Yoruba
    • Knowledge of applying a Christian perspective in today's culture.
    • Knowledge and experience of commerce, industry or public services.

SKILLS

    • Able to preach and lead worship
    • Able to develop and encourage others to release their potential
    • Good communication skills and an ability to demonstrate creative approaches to relating to others
    • Ability to speak Yoruba and English languages
    • Able to chair and lead meetings
    • Able to develop and implement plans and lead others
    • An ability to relate to management, unions and people of differing political views
    • Good administration skills and able to use modern ICT tools
